Wednesday Night Shootout Ride

Wednesday evening ride modeled off a combination of Tuesday night worlds and other shootout rides. The Ride meets at 4:50 and Rolls at 5:00 every Wednesday from ADK Circle on the Middlebury campus. Organized by Midd Club Cycling this is an opportunity for members of both the local community and the cycling team to ride fast and challenge each other in a light-hearted environment.

Route Details

Start at ADK Circle, and roll out together on Weybridge Street.

Turn right onto Morgan Horse Farm Rd. Continue straight over a one-lane wood bridge, be careful, and slow down. About a half mile from the bridge, turn left onto Twitchell Hill Road.

At the intersection, turn left onto field days road. Caution there is a stop sign at the bottom of the hill.

Take a left at the stop sign, the road then turns sharply right and goes down a small hill. This marks the end of the neutral role out

Continue straight through the stop sign at the top of the climb in Weybridge and onto James road. The segment DOES NOT end here, but please obey traffic laws and stop at the stop sign.

The KOM segment ends at the yellow stop sign warning sign at the intersection of James road and route 125. We will regroup/soft pedal as we turn right onto VT Route 125. The route then climbs past lemon fair on 125 and descends into the valley. Please ride no wider than 2 abreast and give the group a bit of time to come back together.

Just before crossing the bridge by snake MTN the route turns left on West Street. This is a bit of a blind corner so approach with caution

Segment 2 starts immediately after turning onto west street and finishes with a KOM (about 3 miles from when we turn on to this road) at the top of the west street climb. The end of the segment is marked by the driveway to a nice gray/brown house on the right and white mailbox directly across from it.

Stop at the stop sign, then turn left onto VT Route 74 (careful of the bad pavement). Ride as a group for about a mile and the route will turn right South Bingham street. The group can roll together down Bingham street.

There is a rolling intersection where we have the right of way as we are turning left on to Parkhill Road, so we will roll through and wind up for the sprint section. After rounding the corner there are 2 consecutive bumps and the sprint ends at the mailbox on the top of the second bump. Caution Remain well on the right side of the yellow line over the top of the hill.

We will regroup as we roll down Parkhill road, then turn right on to VT Route 30 for 1 mile which is a busy road.  Ride no more than 2 wide and call out cars.

The route turns left onto Swamp Road and once the group has made the turn the 3rd and final segment starts and lasts for the next 7-8 miles. The route continues until swamp road makes a left just after the RR tracks and turns into Shard Villa  road. (Use caution both when crossing the bridge and the RR tracks)

No regroup here. The segment continues along shard villa road until the sharp corner sign just before the intersection with creek road. Please do not slow down significantly/bunch up/get water and snacks until we turn left onto Halliday (about 100m from the end of the sprint) road as this intersection can be hectic.

Continue and turn left. Now roll and regroup before following Halliday road to RT 7 and RT 7 through town and back to Campus.
